Slovenia-based cement producer, Salonit Anhovo , is expanding its rooftop solar power plant by 1.5MW. The installation on the roof of the company’s cement plant near Anhovo is already the largest of its kind in Slovenia at 2.2MW. Slovenian cement producer, Salonit Anhovo (Wietersdorfer Group) has resumed cement operations after 14-day shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic that caused reduced demand for its domestic market and exports to Italy. Salonit Anhovo suspends production for two weeks

Slovenia’s Salonit Anhovo has suspended production for two weeks from 20 April, due to demand in its Italian and Slovenian markets falling amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis. However, the company will continue to make cement shipments to its customers. "We expect that cement sales on the domestic market will stabilise again as the government is providing incentives for construction activities," said Dejan Zwitter, Salonit management board member.

The agreement between Buzzi Unicem and Wietersdorfer of Austria has been finalised and comes into force on 1 August. Buzzi Unicem acquires a 25 per cent interest the largest Slovenian cement producer Salonit Anhovo and in w&p Cementi in Italy. The Italy-based cement producer transfers its Cadola cement works to Wietersdorfer.
